Warzone 2 Could Get a Name Change, Leaks Tease Graphics and Infinity Ward Crunch

According to an interesting new leak, Warzone 2 may be getting a name change, as Infinity Ward plans to rename its Battle Royale.

One of the most anticipated games of 2022 is Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare’s new reboot in 2019 helped put Call of Duty back on the map for many fans, not least thanks to its battle royale, Warzone.

Now MW2 is fast approaching and finally brings Warzone 2 to the table. Activision is already promising “groundbreaking innovations” when the Warzone 2 reveal drops.

But it seems lately, leakers have the company’s number at every turn. The other day we got a big Warzone 2 leak revealing the new map, gameplay, and loadout details.

And now an intriguing new post has surfaced, with gameplay alongside.

Warzone 2 Might Get A Name Change – New Battle Royale Name?

Apparently, Warzone 2 could change its name, despite the excellent recognition of the Battle Royale brand.

This claim comes from a new 4chan post – and we know what you’re thinking.

Usually we wouldn’t consider this a reliable source, but this time it came with alleged footage of Modern Warfare’s new DMZ mode!

Assuming the poster is indeed an Activision employee, something we always take with a pinch of salt, it would make sense that their claims are grounded in truth. Among them is a report that Infinity Ward may be considering moving away from the Warzone brand.

Apparently, this is due to the Battle Royale having a poor perception of players that some employees would like to get away from. It’s certainly true that Warzone’s reputation has plummeted since its incredible release in 2020.

In fact, many players have expressed their desire to clean the board entirely with Warzone 2.

Warzone 2 Graphics, Glitches, and Infinity Ward Crunch

The leaker also addresses the issue of Warzone 2 graphics.

We may have recently looked at them ourselves with this Modern Warfare 2 gameplay leak last week!

According to 4chan leaker, gamers shouldn’t expect a big lead in graphical fidelity this year, as last-gen consoles still hold the title. Of course, we’d expect there to be at least a slightly nicer version of the game for extra cost on “next-gen” units, as usual.

At the moment, the leaker is also reporting that Warzone 2 decisions are moving fast, with “move fast and break things” as the developer’s motto. Falling on the Battle Royale map is apparently a common problem, and new game releases are frequent.

While the passion is allegedly high at Infinity Ward right now, the crunch is said to be “awful”. As such, the backer expects the team to be “running with fumes post-release.”

We can only hope that this part of the leak turns out to be fake. But as we mentioned before, this whole report should be taken with a grain of salt until more evidence arrives.

Recently, another tease claimed that these fan-favorite MW2 maps are coming to the Warzone 2 map! It would be nice to see iconic locations as part of the Battle Royale experience.

Meanwhile, Modern Warfare 2 will apparently bring improvements to SBMM, one of the most unpopular features in Call of Duty history. Unfortunately for fans who hate skill-based matchmaking, this isn’t going away.

And finally, yet another recent leak teases that the new game might allow players to swap skins and blueprints!

What do you think of all the recent leaks?
