Singular.live and Reality Check Systems Provide Graphics and Control for Randox Grand National Festival YouTube Coverage – rAVe [PUBS]
Singular.live, the pioneer of revolutionary cloud-based technology for live graphics overlays, and Reality Check Systems (RCS), the leader in graphics, monitoring and data integration solutions, today announced that they feed live coverage of the Randox Grand National Festival on the Racing Post YouTube channel.
Three days of top-level jump racing culminates with the world’s tallest steeplechase, the Randox Grand National, on Saturday 9th April and Spotlight Sports Group (SSG) will be hosting events at Aintree covered from all angles with three shows each day.
In The Know, Coral’s evening show, will give an overview of the next day’s races, and the Good Morning Aintree breakfast show will bring viewers the latest news and advice each morning. When the action begins, racing fans can join the Racing Post team for a one-to-watch show, Racing Post Live, in partnership with Betfair. SSG teamed up with Paddy Power to launch their Good Morning leg for the Cheltenham Festival last month and hope to build on that success at Aintree this week.
All three shows feature graphics integrated into Singular.live, the cloud-based platform for live graphics. RCS provides a Singular.live composition and its RCS Cobb control application that allows users to call models and populate them with live data from the Racing Post API and partner data streams channeled through Foundation , the cloud-based data service from RCS.
Singular.live’s cloud-native pedigree makes it perfect for live streaming, but its flexibility means graphics can be delivered in multiple formats to suit any type of production. SSG uses a hardware solution to generate the SDI outputs needed for the broadcast workflow in its studio in London.
For SSG, the flexibility and simplicity of the RCS solution are essential. “We love using Cobb because it’s so easy,” remarked Nick Rostron-Pike, SSG’s video and social media manager. “We use versatile operators for whom delivering graphics is only part of the job. The intuitive interface, the responsiveness of the graphics and the speed of data updates are therefore integral to the success of our programs. Being able to switch between projects with the click of a button is crucial, especially now that we deliver three shows a day.
David Peacock, Senior Project Manager, RCS, believes the collaboration with SSG is the shape of things to come in terms of creating innovative programming on YouTube and other platforms.
“Naturally there’s a drive to maximize the amount of content created in the light of major sporting events, particularly online,” Peacock said, “but it’s crucial for producers and sponsors that the increase quantity does not affect quality. RCS and Singular.live provide SSG’s three daily live broadcasts with quality graphics and real-time data at a competitive price and without the need to hire dedicated graphics operators.
Kieran Thirlwell, Senior Video Producer, SSG, agrees: “Singular.live’s flexibility and RCS’ cloud-native solutions are a real game-changer for us. We will be able to deliver high quality graphics in our coverage of the Grand National Festival while saving time and money, and we will certainly explore using their solutions again on even more shows in the future. “.
