How to upgrade your Nintendo Switch OLED with 4K graphics
In T3’s Nintendo Switch OLED review, we said that “Big N’s game console just got bigger and better,” and while that’s absolutely true, the only thing it didn’t deliver is we really wanted here at T3 was a graphics resolution upgrade.
Indeed, despite its new screen, the Nintendo Switch OLED comes with essentially identical hardware internal to the original Nintendo Switch, which means its natural resolution is 720p (or 1080p in docked mode).
However, what many players don’t realize is that you can actually get improved resolution graphics on a Nintendo Switch OLED today.
This feature is unlocked by the Marseille mClassic, a super neat game console graphics processor capable of increasing the 720p resolution of the Nintendo Switch OLED up to 1440p, which if viewed on an Ultra HD TV with upscaling Built-in 4K, can means you can play Nintendo Switch games at enhanced 4K resolution.

And, what makes the Marseille mClassic even better is that it’s a fully plug-and-play product – it’s just a USB-powered dongle that sits between the OLED Switch. and the console’s HDMI line screen.
Graphics scaling is unlocked thanks to the Marseille mClassic’s built-in 4K Chroma 4: 4: 4 scaling processor, which in partnership with its 120 FPS graphics post-processor and 1ms response time , means that all Switch games are, immediately and with zero effort, increased and improved in terms of framerate, too.
Take a look at the images below showing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 working both with and without mClassic. Note in particular how all jagged edges and noise visible with mClassic turned off are removed and smoothed out when turned on.
On a 4K display, the difference the mClassic makes in terms of how Nintendo Switch OLED games look and function is marked, and that really gives the new console a much more modern feel – and especially in light of the graphics power. provided by the PS5 and Xbox X series.
And the crazy thing about the mClassic is that it doesn’t just work with the Nintendo Switch OLED, but it can upgrade a host of consoles, retro or otherwise. Indeed, it even has a retro mode dedicated to making retro consoles more beautiful than ever on modern televisions. The quality to price ratio is excellent.
We gave the Marseille mClassic a maximum rating of 5 stars in the review, praising its easy plug-and-play setup, excellent image enhancement capabilities, and sleek, compact design. And now more than ever, with gamers desperate for a more faithful Nintendo Switch OLED gaming experience, this seems like a great way for gamers to get it today.
For us at T3, this is the perfect way for OLED Switch owners to bridge that gap with the ubiquitous Nintendo Switch 4K, and most importantly because it also sells for a very affordable price.
