Dinosaur Jr. “Take It Back” with New Stop Motion Video, Announces Camp Fuzz II Guests [Watch]
Dinosaur Jr. offered another preview of the band’s upcoming album Sweep it in space with the new single “Take It Back”. Sweep it in space comes out friday via Jagjaguwar.
Following the release of Lou barlow-written “Garden”, this last single finds singer / guitarist J Mascis back to the helm. As the song opens with brilliant sound tones compared to “Keith richards“Jamaican Explorations” in a statement, these quickly give way to a more conventional Dinosaur Jr. tone. What could be interpreted as a catchy hook and adapted to the radio is cut just right by the raucous delivery of J to give “I Ran Away” a comfortable grain edge. Meanwhile, the director’s stop-motion animation video Callum Scott-Dyson makes some simple messages and lyrics a bit more ambiguous and abstract.

“[I] really wanted to use the creature on the front of the album cover to Sweep it in space as an inspiration and a springboard for her own little adventure, exploring some simple notions of creation, addiction, coming of age and finding another like yourself, ”Scott-Dyson said in a release from hurry. “I wanted to mix these themes with my stop motion animation style, everything being very DIY and handmade, using whatever materials I could get my hands on to bring the idea to life and give it a feel. surreal and from another world. I’ve always been a huge fan of Dinosaur Jr so I was working really hard to make something that could add to such a great track and sit next to it.
