ESPN art director Brian Girardin explains how the graphics package was built on a tight deadline

Presented at the Helen Mills Theater in New York on May 24, the SVG Sports Graphics Forum brought together creative and technology leaders behind renowned sports broadcasts for a day of networking, exchanging information and sharing ideas in the rapidly changing world of live sports graphics. In addition to the live event, SVG hosted a special virtual supplement on June 1 as a follow-up to dive deeper into some projects with speakers who were unable to attend the event in New York.

The popular Monday night football With Peyton and Eli – also known as ManningCast – returning this week for the start of his second season.

For ESPN’s graphic design team, creating the graphics package for the high-profile property created a unique challenge both operationally and creatively. Last year, the team had to create an all-new package from scratch on extremely short notice after the Manningcast announced it less than two months before the 2021 NFL season kicked off. Next, ESPN creatives were tasked with providing graphics that were both fun and informative while catering to the show’s “hang out at home” format.

ESPN Art Director Brian Girardin joined SVG virtually to share a behind-the-scenes look at the graphics supporting the Emmy-winning production.

GameXplain has shared a new graphics comparison for the Switch and PS5 versions of It Takes Two.

Following previous rumors that EA was planning a port of the game for Nintendo’s console, the the news has been made official this week. An announcement was made during the new Nintendo Direct on Tuesday.

According to ITmedia, Intel’s slowest Arc desktop GPU is now available for DAIV workstations. The DAIV Z3-A380 is one of the first systems to be reviewed with an MSI Arc A380 GPU.

We have noticed offers for this GPU on Chinese merchant sites, but no one has specifically tested this GPU model. The MSI A380 is a low-profile model with two small fans and no power connector. Although it is a discrete GPU, it requires two slots. The I/O support has two display ports (DP+HDMI), although it’s unclear if it’s HDMI2.1 and DP 2.0. This model is set to the default boost clock of 2450 MHz, with memory set to 1937 MHz (15.5 Gbps). As with previous A380 variants, only 8 Xe cores and 6 GB of 96-bit GDDR6 memory are available. In the DEIV 4N system, the A380 outperforms the GeForce GTX 1650. (equipped with the mobile i7-1260P). The GPU is 10% and 39% faster in 3DMark Firestike and TimeSpy respectively. It’s still not impressive, but the A380 is not a gaming GPU.

ITmedia evaluated Intel’s Alchemist A380 GPUs, which have relatively strong video decoding capabilities. This could be the deciding factor in choosing this system over the others. After all, this is a professional workstation/PC, not a gaming machine. This DAIV Z3-A380 system features an Intel Core i7-12700 processor and 32GB of DDR4 memory. It is a mid-tower chassis with ample space for hard drive storage. A large fan is mounted on the side panel to provide adequate ventilation for the MSI A380. However, at 75W TDP it shouldn’t get too hot.

As Intel prepares to officially launch its Arc desktop GPUs, the company is detailing specifications for four models in the product line.

The company revealed the specs on Thursday video(Opens in a new window) which gives PC builders a taste of what to expect from Intel’s foray into discrete gaming graphics. The chipmaker confirms that the A770 is the most powerful model in the Arc desktop line, followed by the A750.

The products then narrow down to the midrange A580 and entry-level A380, which Newegg has been quietly selling online in the US since last month.

Specs show that the A770 can deliver up to 560 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Meanwhile, the memory bandwidth of the A580 and A750 can reach 512 GB/s, which is more than the 448 GB/s of Nvidia’s RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti, although the specifications are not always directly comparable due to the different architectures.

Xe cores represent the primary compute engines of the Arc graphics card. β€œSo more Xe cores mean more graphics performance and larger dies,” Intel graphics colleague Tom Petersen said in the video. Meanwhile, XMX engines are designed to accelerate AI-based workloads, such as video and photo editing.

Intel also revealed GPU clock speeds. However, the specs only cover expected performance for a majority of games and apps; they do not necessarily represent the highest possible clock speeds.

The other notable detail is how the Arc A770 will mostly arrive with 8GB of GDDR6 video RAM. But in some cases, vendors will release 16GB models.

The specs don’t exactly reveal much about performance. But in recent weeks, Intel has released benchmarks for the Arc A770 and Arc 750, which suggest the cards will rival Nvidia’s RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3060 products respectively. However, the key question is how much the Arc cards will cost.

For now, Intel continues to remain mum on pricing and the launch of Arc desktop graphics cards in the US. But the company plans to release its own Intel-branded Arc cards, much like Nvidia has its Founders Edition RTX 3000 GPUs.

β€œWe ship it internationally, it will be available on launch day,” Petersen said. Intel’s own Arc A770 card will also come with 16GB of video RAM.

In the meantime, check out our review of the Arc A380, which is on sale on Newegg for $139 with a higher clock speed. The low price of the product can make it appealing to consumers on a budget. But we gave the A380 a lackluster review for its shaky performance, especially when it comes to running older games running DirectX11.

GPRS and its TruePoint laser division have completed approximately 80,000 projects over the past year that combine fantasy and reality to create immersive 3D graphics for fans.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo-based Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, (GPRS) which uses scanning technology for things like lead detection in pipes, is the largest company of its kind in the country for 21 years.

However, over the past 11 years they have added by TruPoint laser technology to potentially forever change the way fans watch the sport.

Since then, the company has been involved in adding virtual elements to sports broadcasts.

The company is headquartered near Monroe St. in western Toledo. Nationally, they have grown to employ approximately 700 employees.

Laser Scanning Director Ryan Hacker said that in addition to the other services offered by the company, his team wanted to add an extra element of interaction for sports fans.

“For the fan experiences, we’ll scan a stadium. There’s a company that will then take that data and add virtual elements that they can show to fans on TV and fans in the stadium who can see it live on the jumbotrons,” Hacker said.

He said the company gets involved about a month or two before the project officially goes live, when it takes a few days to scan what it needs to generate a 3D model. A few weeks later, the finished product is ready for presentation.

The company has completed around 80,000 projects over the past year, which Hacker calls an impressive list.

“The Baltimore Ravens had a crow flying around the stadium, which everyone could see. So the reason laser scanning is involved is because they want the virtual objects to interact with the physical objects in the real world,” did he declare.

They even teamed up with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans and were part of the NFL playoffs partners with Nickelodeon to create an interactive on-pitch slime experience.

TruPoint’s projects are not limited to football. They have also used their technology in baseball stadiums, football fields, golf courses and racetracks. Their scans have even been used in video games, which Hacker says is the future.

“I think we’re just seeing the culmination of this, I think it’s going to really expand all the professional sports teams [that] are exploring what they can do to make this experience more fun and unique for their fans,” Hacker said.

Marvel Studios has been releasing new movies and TV shows faster than we can watch them.

Their latest show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, an action-comedy, has generated both excitement and trepidation.

Due to this incredible pace of content production, the CGI department is struggling to keep up, and She-Hulk is no exception.

This show follows Jennifer Walters, who is a lawyer and also Hulk.

A clip from the latest episode with guest star Megan Thee Stallion has been the subject of hundreds of viral memes in recent days.

Twitter has been taken over by people comparing dodgy CGI to several low-budget content like video games.

One of the most prominent tweets was one that compared this clip to that of a career mode signature cut scene in FIFA 22.

Avid FIFA users will remember that these cut scenes are something of an iconic part of the game.

Before signing a player, the managers sit down together, either in the office or in the cafe, and try to come to an agreement on the player.

This is rarely what happens in real life, which involves the technical director, the transfer committee and the other members of the board. Much more than the player and manager are involved, but for the game it works quite well.

This clip of She-Hulk is almost reminiscent of those clips, and She-Hulk herself could be compared to the manager of the team whose player we want to buy.

A typical career mode cutscene

Marvel’s decision to create so many shows and movies at the same time has been questioned because it deals a very heavy blow to production value.

Others defend the show by explaining why the cutscene looks as bad as it does in this clip.

Several users pointed out that this clip looked bad because the user had enabled “Motion Smoothing” or interpolation, which resulted in an increased frame rate.

This may be desired for some videos, but not for shows shot at a specific frame rate and edited the same way.

As for the people watching the show, the series is getting better day by day.

Although Episode 2 was criticized for being too short and having some story gaps, the new episode seems to be making up for some of the viewership the show lost.

Incidentally, the show could gain traction in football and gaming circles. As they say, all publicity is good publicity.

With Unreal Engine 5 taking the gaming experience to new heights, fans have been desperately waiting for a revamped version of the old video gamers. A YouTuber appointed TeaserPlaywhich is renowned for its spectacular demonstrations of God of War parts, Bully and other titles in the past, has recreated The Witcher in Unreal Engine 5.

Unreal Engine 5 is known for delivering extraordinary detail to the graphical content of several games. The Witcher 3 already had stunning graphics in its prime time, and its release on Unreal Engine 5 could have made it one of the best titles out there.

Although the graphics have improved considerably, we can see some flaws in by Geralt model. It looks a bit crude, with a vague structure giving the character an ambiguous look, but the game as a whole is beautiful. Additionally, the storefront claims The Witcher 4 was crafted in Unreal Engine 5, but Geralt won’t be in the game, as we already know. CD Projekt RED is also creating a version of Witcher 3 for next-gen consoles, and we hope the creators will learn from TeaserPlay and deliver something fans of the franchise have long wanted.

Next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on computer, Xbox series X/Sand PlayStation 5. All additional materials, including story expansions and DLCs, will also be included in the Next-Gen Edition. This time, fans can look forward to new DLC materials motivated by the netflix Witcher adaptation.

The Witcher 3’s Unreal Engine 5 demo showed off the game’s potential when it was released. We can only hope that CD Projekt RED tries to maximize the game’s potential for the next generation of Witcher 3.
